November 1-5

Dear Parents,
Hopefully you all had a safe and enjoyable Halloween weekend. With the holiday and Red Ribbon week over, I'm excited to focus on lots of great learning this week. Along with our regular weekly activities, the students will be learning new concepts from our math wall, a new pre-reading skill (whisper, skim, & scan), and receiving a new fluency folder.
The new book report was explained and the information was sent home today. Please keep this information in a safe place and encourage your student to begin this project soon. My policy of accepting work until the end of the quarter is still in effect, however, in order to encourage the students to become more responsible as the year progresses, late work (including the book report) will no longer receive full credit.
*Reading: We will be focusing on pre-reading skills in order to set the stage for increased comprehension.
*Homework: Please make sure to check and sign your child's homework each week. The entire packet is due on or before Friday.
*Spelling List: 11/1-11/5--List # 7 Bonus Words: divisor & dividend 11/8-11/12 Spelling List # 8 Bonus Words: desert & reptile
*Book Report: This month (Nov.) the book report will be historical fiction. I have shown examples and handed out guidlines as well as a ruberic to help the students complete this project. The report is due on or before Wednesday, December 1st.
*Math: We are continuing to work on Topic 4-division. We plan to finish this chapter up by the end of the week and begin Topic 5-more multiplication.
